Dr.Yash Shah has trained several students(CPS,DNB), fellows and optometrists in the past.
He is starting a Fellowship for optometrists in orthoptics where they will be thoroughly trained in the evaluation of paediatric & adult patients.
The Fellowship program will include training in retinoscopy,assessment of BSV,assessment of paediatric visual acuity(training in cardiff acuity,allen cards,lotus pic charts,HOTV charts,optokinetic drum,sheridan gardner),synoptophore use,vision therapy, muscle balance, complete squint evaluation,use of prisms, contact lens and LVA training, diplopia and hess charting, prescription of prism glasses, neurophthalmology evaluation, use and interpretation of perimetry, ascan, etc.
The Fellowship program will include theory classes, practical cases where the squint patients will be evaluated by the students in each class, hands on training of different instruments mentioned before.
At the end of the course a theory,practical and viva exam will be scheduled where each student will be graded and assessed individually.
The classes will be held at Dr.Yash Shah's clinic on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every mnth between 5 to 6.30 pm.The course fees will be Rs 10000(1 yr duration).
A certificate will be given to each student at the end of the course.
